Sulphurdale

Just drive in to the town site and you'll no longer wonder why they call it Sulphurdale.  You'll also no longer wonder why it's a ghost town.  The place stinks.  A rich smell of sulfur fills the air because of the company there that is still mining the mineral.

In 1883, a thermal processing plant was built to extract the sulfur.  For 15 years 1000 tons of sulfur per year was produced.  The suppler company built the town with 25-30 homes, a schoolhouse, and a company store.

Mining companies have reopened the mining on and off throughout the years.

Sulphurdale is east of a paved access road to the I-15.  The entrance into town is about 3 miles south of Cove Fort, and about 2 miles north from the Sulphurdale exit on I-15.
