Spring City is a beautiful little town with many historic buildings. The place has come to life again as many people have started moving in to the city and building new homes. Despite the population increase, the town maintains its historic charm.
The place was founded under the name of Springtown in 1867 as a farming town. Most the residents were farmers, cattle and sheepmen, and some lumbermen. Orson Hyde, apostle of the LDS church, lived in the town and was also the valley Indian agent.
Spring City's population peaked in 1895 at 1250 people. Since then, the population has dwindled until recently. Many have moved in to the city limits and have occupied homes as well as building new ones. Many buildings are listed on the State Historic Register and the town site is well worth a tour.
Spring City is found a mile east of Highway 89, 38 miles south of Thistle and 16 miles north of Manti.
