McCornick

McCornick was founded in 1919 when families began to settle on a canal feeding water to the area that was built by the Sevier River Land and Water Company.  Peak of town activity was 1921; 400-500 people worked the farming community.  The winter of 1921-1922 was extremely dry and proved to be the downfall of the town.  By 1930, most of the people had moved out.  There are still some active farms in the area.  This lone homestead is all that remains of the town.  McCornick is located on State Highway 26, about 21.5 miles north of Meadow, or about 11.6 miles northwest of Holden.
