Cove Fort
Cove Fort is a cool little tourist spot. It was bought by the LDS church in 1994 and restored. There are missionary couples that provide tours, taking you through the fort explaining the history behind it.
Cove Fort was established in 1867 to protect the north-south stage, freight lines, and the newly completed Deseret Telegraph line deep in Indian country. It is built of black lava rock and mortar. The fort was also used to serve as an emergency hotel facility for stage drivers and express guards.
If you are looking for Cove Fort, you can't miss the I-15 exit. There is a sign telling you where to exit, south of Fillmore and north of Beaver.
